A Brief History
I have been a maker for some 35 years now.
In the 80s and early 90s I worked in the construction industry Draughtsman and project manager.
I had always wanted to be a maker from a young age so finally managed to go to Sir John Cass University to study silversmithing.
This turned into a business for some years.
I came across Kandor model makers in Clerkenwell who were willing to take me on part time.
This soon turned into a full-time job and some great training from some talented model makers.

Charlie palmer models was born
Since leaving London I have been involved in many small local projects but always missed the model making.
It was time to set up a new type of making studio.
Having worked with several renowned Model Makers over the years—gaining priceless experience—it was time to set up Charlie Palmer Models, which has been growing for some ten years now.
Though the premises have expanded, I still manufacture scale context buildings and scheme models for model makers and architects. The original idea was to help practices take the stress and strain off some of their larger projects.
Since then, the business has taken on many projects for architects, model makers, and designers alike, offering a much wider range of skills and facilities with access to lasers and CNC cutters, for example. We offer a unique and affordable making service which can always be tailored to meet client budgetary requirements.
A significant influence on my journey has been Stephen Fooks – a talented model maker, long-time mentor, and friend. Stephen runs his own successful model making company, and we often collaborate on larger or more complex commissions, combining our strengths to deliver outstanding results.
Projects
From large-scale urban schemes to bespoke architectural replicas, Charlie Palmer Models has delivered precision-crafted models for architects, designers, and private clients alike.
Recent projects include consultation models for Studio Egret West, modular masterplans for Cambridge Science Park, and detailed replicas like the Farnsworth House – each tailored to the client’s needs, materials, and level of finish.
